18 April 2023, Bangkok – Scientists are studying wildlife and plants on the green roof of the Forest Pavilion at The Forestias by MQDC, the property developer within DTGO.

The award-winning Forest Pavilion welcomes visitors to The Forestias green district.

MQDC’s Research & Innovation for Sustainability Center (RISC) and Mahidol University (MU) are investigating how the roof contributes to urban ecosystems.

In line with the new neighborhood’s eco-friendly ethos, the building features a host of sustainable elements including a roof covered with plants.

Mr. Thanawat Jinjaruk, Senior Sustainable Designer at RISC, with Assoc. Dr. Saroj Rujisansakul and students from MU’s School of Plant Science, are collecting data on urban biodiversity.

The green roof spans 1,268 square meters and hosts plants including Telosma cordata, Typha angustifolia, Gymnopetalum integrifolium, Chloris barbata, and Portulaca quadrifida.

The Forestias integrates a variety of green spaces, including 4 different forest zones, under its commitment to the health and well-being of both residents and the natural world.

The “Deep Forest” zone will provide a protected reserve for shy woodland wildlife.

Residents can enjoy these flourishing ecosystems in their daily lives through features such as the canopy walkways through the treetops.
