RISC’s Dr Singh honored at Silpathorn exhibition

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Singh Intrachooto, the Chief Advisor of MQDC’s research hub, RISC, is honored at an exhibition at Ratchadamnoen Contemporary Art Center on this year’s Silpathorn Award winners.

Famed for decades of achievement in eco-conscious design and architecture, Dr. Singh was among the winners of the prestigious national recognition for 2019.

The Office of Contemporary Art and Culture (OCAC) each year selects 7 leading creative figures who have already made notable contributions to Thailand’s visual arts, literature, music, film, performing arts, design, and architecture.

On receiving the award in May, Dr. Singh said he has aimed to reach “people’s hearts” with sustainable approaches.

“I would like to convey that designers also have the ability to safeguard and restore the environment with creativity, wit, and insight,” he said. “And we can reach out to people’s hearts with our works.”

The exhibition features Dr. Singh’s work including his pioneering activities in ‘upcycling’ – reusing materials in ways that give them greater value.

The Silpathorn Award exhibition runs until 31 August at Ratchadamnoen Contemporary Art Center, 10am-7pm on Tuesday-Sunday (except public holidays).

Dr. Singh’s vision in sustainable design can also be explored at the Research & Innovation for Sustainability Center (RISC), MQDC’s research hub in central Bangkok.

RISC contains publicly accessible resources such as Thailand’s largest eco-materials library. For more information, please visit
