Train your mind while reading the news. Try to observe yourself constantly. See if you are angry, worried, sad, depressed. If something really hurts you, protect your feelings. Take a break from those stories. Look to consume news without letting your heart get overwhelmed by it.
1. Train your mind while reading the news. Try to observe yourself constantly. See if you are angry, worried, sad, depressed. If something really hurts you, protect your feelings. Take a break from those stories. Look to consume news without letting your heart get overwhelmed by it.

2. Know your limits. Generally the news that gets the most attention is bad news. Too much of such news can build up in our hearts like junk food. Limit the time you spend on news. Make space and ignore some news.

3. Do not immediately believe all news stories. Before believing and forwarding news, consider its sources. Try to find the same news from other agencies. If the news is translated from abroad, try to find the original to check its accuracy. Try to keep in mind the first Kalama Sutta, not to believe what you hear.

4. Always remember that a coin has two sides. News focuses only on one interesting aspect. Never forget that there are other stories and comments from other angles that have not been mentioned.

5. Consider “How can we do better?” with every news item. Let's think about how we can do better, both by ourselves and with those around us and wider society.
